How to Wrap Gifts Reusably with Furoshiki Cloth write this for a 8th grader

Wrapping of gifts is not a very simple process. You waste twenty minutes trying to unwrap a roll of wrapping paper which seems to tear very easily. And then you suddenly run out of tape – it turns into total mess.

There is, however, a technique which Japanese people use. It is called Furoshiki. And it can be defined as the art of wrapping something in a square piece of cloth. You can use old bandanas, or just cut pieces of pillowcases. This way your gift looks pretty and you are doing great to nature – no trees suffer.

The best thing about this is you never have to buy tapes again. You make knots like a ninja. It resembles an origami.

First of all, you take a square piece of cloth and lay it on the table. You put a box in the middle of the cloth. You should do it right, otherwise it will not work.

Then you grab two opposite corners and lift them above the box. Then bring them to each other and tie a knot. Do not be afraid – tie it tightly.

Repeat the same actions with another two corners and tie the knots on top of the previous ones. In case your material of cloth is slippery you may need to tie the knots double.

Take the little pointed ends and place them below the knot. Your present looks very neat now. It is kind of magic.

In case you have nothing but a t-shirt, use it. Old scarves will do fine too. The funnier the pattern is the better – you will look artistic.

Besides, you are a true hero helping the planet. There is no more trash can with tapes. Just your friend and reusable cloth.
