But wait. We should be realistic. The only place where one can have five minutes of silence is the bathroom when you take a shower. Yes, it is your sanctuary. Steam, silence, nobody asks you for cookies or TV. However, what about the water expenses? This is one way to control them without running from one room to another in the morning.
The shower timer is one of those inventions that you will never think of but which will really help you. It neither judges you nor complicates your life but helps to stay disciplined. You can easily find an inexpensive and effective suction cup shower timer at Amazon or even a digital one at Target. Any smart timer which needs connection to your phone is not required. It is better to get something that counts down eight minutes starting with eight minutes.
At first, set the timer to your average showering time. So, if you spend twelve minutes there, set it to twelve minutes. Don’t cheat me, please. Then, after you get used to it, subtract half a minute every few days. That is the easiest way to adjust to a new regime.
When it goes off, rinse yourself and leave the shower. You shouldn’t try to convince yourself that you need a minute or two more. That is the main point here. You should train yourself to understand that it means it is the end of the shower. Not difficult, is it?
But you will be surprised how much money you will be able to save monthly. And you will get your warm coffee in the morning.
